Meet Chef Steve

A native of Ashley, Pennsylvania, Stephen Schappert is the head chef for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins organization.

In his current role, Schappert is responsible for planning and preparing healthy and nutritious meals for the American Hockey League team. He provides breakfast and lunch for the Penguins’ players at all home practices and provides dinners for the team following home games.

Chef Steve has also worked with opposing AHL clubs, as well as Wilkes University and other visiting colleges, to provide postgame meals during their travels to NEPA.

Schappert oversees the Penguins' REHEAT N' EAT meal service, which allows Penguins fans to enjoy healthy, pre-packaged meals- right in their own homes.

Schappert graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2007. He’s been honored by Food Service Director Magazine as one of the publication’s "Rising Stars Under 30", and received recognition from Food Management Magazine for his sustainability efforts.

Prior to joining the Penguins, Schappert worked at Perugino’s, Billy G’s, Kelsey’s, Wyoming Valley Country Club, Bart & Urby’s, and Metz Culinary Mgmt, among others.
